Collimator
Optical component that defines the X-ray beam spot size on the sample surface.
A collimator narrows the X-ray beam to a defined spot size — typically 3 mm, 8 mm, or larger depending on the analyzer and application.
Smaller spots isolate small features (solder joints, inclusions); larger spots average composition over a wider area for bulk PMI. Specelex analyzers offer interchangeable collimators for flexible workflows.
